Priority Registration
Honors students receive priority registration, and a student's specific registration time is based on earned credit hours, including USC coursework, AP, IB and dual enrollment credits on the official transcript. The more credits a student has, the earlier their registration time will be.
This means that while priority registration provides early access, some classes may still fill quickly.
Course selection depends on the assigned registration time and current availability. Honors students with more earned credits usually register earlier and may have access to a broader range of courses. As a student earns more credits, their registration time will also improve.
Navigating the Honors Registration Process

Finding open seats in Honors courses |
You can quickly see available spaces using the advanced search on my.sc.edu:
|
Needing a specific course for graduation |
If you need a specific Honors course to stay on track for graduation, the Honors College will work with you to provide course options and if needed, an override. Review the override policy and contact Anita Poole, director of student services, if you have questions. |
Meet with your advisor |
If you have questions before advising appointments begin each semester, you can schedule an appointment via EAB Navigate. Once formal advising is active, email your advisor directly. Be aware that during peak advising times, availability might be limited. |
Additional Registration Questions
One of our goals in the Honors College is to consistently offer new, exciting courses each semester, so there is no guarantee that a course is always going to be offered. However, students can use our course webpage to see courses we have offered in previous semesters, which can help students gain a sense of what courses are typically offered within the Honors College and which semester they may usually be offered.
A registration hold can mean many things. To view a list of different types of holds and avenues for how to resolve them, please visit the Student Advising Resources page.

- You can directly register for classes using my.sc.edu’s registration function, or with the Schedule Planner add-on. Need help? Registration tutorials are available.
Some sections that begin with an alpha character are designated for special populations. You may only register for these sections if you qualify. Visit the registration troubleshooting page for more information.
