College of Social Work Listserv and Chat Room

The College of Social Work is pleased to announce the launch of a new Social Work Chat Room.  The Chat Room is located on Blackboard and is available to all students, faculty, and staff of the College.  Combined with the College of Social Work Listserv, the College now provides two avenues for information distribution within our community.

CHAT ROOM

The Chat Room is community accessed through the University’s Blackboard system at  https://blackboard.sc.edu/webapps/portal/frameset.jsp Students, faculty, and staff of the College will have a link in their personalized Blackboard in the “My Organizations’ section that will take them to the page. 

The purpose of the chat room is to provide an un-moderated forum for discussion on any topic relevant to social work students, faculty, and staff.  All posts will have to come from logged-in users of the Blackboard system.  There will be no anonymous posts.  Only current students, faculty, and staff will have access to the chat room.

COSW-USC LISTSERV

 Our college-wide listserv provides faculty, staff, and students an important means of communication to nearly 500 subscribers. We depend heavily on the listserv for meeting announcements, emergency notices, community events, job postings, and informational reports from the College, the University, and our professional community. For this reason we are closing the COSW-USC for other purposes. 

All postings to the college-wide listserv must be approved by “owners” appointed by the Dean. The faculty owner is Dr. Miriam Johnson, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs; the student owner is Dr. Laura Boudon, Director of Student Affairs, and the staff owner is Deborah Duvall, M.S.W.  The Dean may appoint other owners as needed to manage postings on the college-wide listserv.

COSW students wishing to post to the listserv should direct their request and information to Dr. Laura Boudon at boudon@gwm.sc.edu

COSW faculty wishing to post on the listserv should direct their request and information to Dr. Miriam Johnson at Miriam.Johnson@sc.edu

COSW staff wishing to post to the listserv, please direct their request and information to Deborah.Duvall@sc.edu

Postings to the listserv and the chatroom must abide by the Carolina Creed: http://www.sa.sc.edu/creed/ . Any violations of this code are subject to discipline, such as exclusion from the listserv or the chat room.  Violations should reported to the Dean’s Assistant, Deborah Duvall, at Deborah.duvall@sc.edu or at 777-5292.
