INTERNATIONAL CULTURAL CAMP SCHOLARSHIP 2008
The College of Social Work is pleased to announce that Fiona McDevitt will be the recipient of the International Cultural Camp Scholarship at National Taiwan Normal University in July 2008 in Taiwan. Originally from Rhode Island, Fiona McDevitt now lives in South Carolina while pursuing her Master of Social Work at the University of South Carolina. She is the newly elected Vice President of the Social Work Student Association at the University. Her past professional experiences have been quite varied: from being the deckhand on a converted fishing trawler, to assisting on a study researching ADHD in youth, and implementing self-esteem building programs with inner-city youth. She is "honored to be representing the University of South Carolina at this event" and hopes to create a video of her experience in Taiwan. She also wants to learn about Taiwanese social work practice as it differs from social work in the United States
