During the Summer of 2003, students, faculty members, practitioners and their families will be embarking on an exciting and educational tour to the land of Gold: Accra and Ghana. The journey into the land of gold, rich in history and tradition is scheduled to take place between May 15-28, 2003. The College of Social Work's Study Abroad Program has operated continuously since 1986 and involved more than 600 social workers, students, families and friends.
The cost of the trip is approximately US $2,699.00. This cost includes international airfare, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, breakfast, lunch and dinner (as stated in the itinerary), historic and preferred tours and visits.
The proposed itinerary will capture the essence and richness of Ghana and include visits to Accra, Cape, Cost, Kumasi and surrounding areas. In addition to visiting Ghana's major Universities and meeting with select faculty and administrators, tours will include but are not limited to: National Museums, the W.E.B. Dubois center, Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, Ashanti Crafts village, Aburi Botanical Gardens, Lake Bosomture, and surrounding villages.
University of South Carolina credit for Undergraduate (Social Work 306) and Graduate (Social Work 757) students available. Professionals will be able to earn 5 Continuing Education Units (CEU's) or 500 contacts hours.
