EDUCATION DIGEST MANUSCRIPT GUIDELINES:
In addition to full-length manuscripts, we publish brief, descriptive reports of innovative ideas and practices in social work education. These may include pedagogical theory and strategies for new techniques or teaching methods, use of information technology, or evaluation of existing approaches that enriches academic practice. Manuscripts submitted for the Education Digest should 1) reference pedagogical theory or literature to support the innovation and 2) provide sufficiently descriptive information to enable other educators to adopt and implement the innovation.
Guidelines:
- Manuscripts for Education Digest should not exceed 2,500 words (about 8 pages).
- Set one-inch margins on all sides.
- Double-space text.
- Include running heads and page numbers in automated headers.
- As the first page of the manuscript, include an abstract of no more than 100 words. Insert a hard return at the end of the abstract, to begin the manuscript text on the next page.
- Repeat the manuscript title on the first page of text.
- Write in clear, readable, scholarly style.
- Manuscripts need not include an extensive bibliography but should reference pedagogical theory or literature to support the innovation reported.
- Manuscripts should provide sufficient descriptive information to enable other educators to adopt and implement the innovation.
- Use the American Psychological Association (5th ed.) format and reference style throughout the manuscript.
- As a separate attachment, include a cover sheet with the manuscript title, running head, and author’s name, affiliation, and complete contact information (E-mail, postal address, telephone, fax).
- In the E-mail message (or cover letter), identify self-references in the manuscript and references so that these can be deleted prior to review.
- Remove the author’s name from the abstract or body of the manuscript (replace it with “author citation”.
- We do not accept and authors should not submit manuscripts previously published or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Before we publish an accepted manuscript, the author must print, complete, sign, and return a copyright form to the editorial staff of Aretê.
