FELLOWSHIPS

  • Tanya and Tom Carter Social Work Fellowship for MSW students. Funds will be granted for an award for two students with an Upstate Field Placement.
  • Dorthea Crouch Kemp Fellowship established by Ms. Yancey Wise, a 1981 graduate of the College of Social Work. The scholarship fund is in memory of her mother, Dorthea Crouch Kemp, a 1941 USC alumna, who passed away in 2005. The fund supports a permanent clinical social work fellowship for deserving graduate students in the College’s MSW program. The funds are to be used to support students who would not otherwise be able to attend the MSW program.
  • The Charles L. Gheen, Jr. Endowed Scholarship Fund, established by E. Grady Hartzog, provides support to students who are in financial need with a preference for students who have severe family situations.
  • The Margaret Gheen Hartzog Memorial Scholarship Fund established by Mr. & Mrs. Charles L. Gheen, E. Grady Hartzog, and Rebecca Sparrow, gives financial assistance to disabled or handicapped students.
  • The Frank B. Raymond III Social Work Fellowship has been established in recognition of Dean Raymond's distinguished service and leadership.  Upon endowment status, the fellowship will provide educational opportunities for students enrolled at the College of Social Work.

  • Leon Ginsberg Award for International Social Work Students
  • The I. DeQuincey Newman Professorship enables the College of Social Work to continue the legacy of Dr. Newman through working to ensure the integration of specialized content and principals of planned and peaceful social change. There are three scholarships available: The I. DeQuincey Newman Chair in Social Work, awarded to MSW students with a concentration in practice with organizations and cummunities. I. DeQuincey Newman Institute for Peace and Social Change awarded to MSW student with a concentration in practice with organizations and communities. And the I. DeQuincey Newman Scholarship Fund awarded to students with leadership potential who are especially interested in macro practice (policy, research and administration). Preference shall be given to students from underrepresented populations and those from rural, historically underserved areas of South Carolina. For information about the I.
