2006 Leon Ginsberg Award for International Social Work Students


The South Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers Announces the 2006 Leon Ginsberg Award for International Social Work Students

The Leon Ginsberg International Social Work Student Award will honor a social work student annually. Abstracts from social work students born in countries outside the United States are invited.

The student must meet the following criteria:

1. The student must have been born in a country other than the US and its territories.

2. The student must be enrolled at the date of the award announcement in a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), or a program approved for candidacy, and located in South Carolina.

3. The student must be able to demonstrate knowledge of social work practice in a country other than the US and its territories. The student must submit an abstract to demonstrate how she or he would either a) compare social work practice between the US and another country, or b) discuss how the student expects to use her/his social work education in the US on return to another country.

4. The student will prepare a short abstract demonstrating 3. a) or 3. b) and limited to 250 words. The abstract could propose a short article for the SC NASW Chapter Update Newsletter or a workshop presentation at a meeting of SC NASW.

Students interested in being considered for the Ginsberg Award will submit an abstract as outlined above before the close of business on February 28, 2006 to the attention of: Terre Sciascia Eichler E-mail: scnasw2@earthlink.net or Chapter Office FAX in Columbia: 256-8406.
