Please join us for the second workshop of Spring 2018, as part of the College of Social Work Field Education Office’s Professional Development Series. Carmen Julious, MSW, LISW-CP/AP, is CEO of Palmetto AIDS Life Support Services, Inc. and Palmetto Family Services Center, LLC.

Many people can live without acknowledging white privilege exists or realizing they may be a beneficiary of this privilege. But privilege is not without consequence, even for the beneficiaries. The phenomenon of race and class-based privilege in America is one that needs to be explored if we are ever to heal our divisions. This workshop will focus on the historical context of race and white privilege in America, examine white privilege and white denial, how privilege impacts poverty/wealth, housing, education and healthcare, and the consequences of white privilege on racism, racial stereotypes and race relations.
